Is the ScanSmart backpack really TSA friendly?

Yes. The laptop compartment unzips and folds flat so the bag can go through screening without removing the laptop. Check with the screening staff, since rules vary by airport.

What laptop size does it fit?

It supports laptops up to 17 inches. The padded sleeve and flat-opening design are sized for that maximum.

How much does it hold?

The capacity is 8.19 gallons, roughly 31 liters. That is enough for a laptop, books, a change of clothes and a water bottle.

Is it good for daily commuting or only travel?

It works for both, but at 3.3 lbs and 18.5 x 13.25 x 9 inches it is large for a light commute. It suits people who carry a lot.

What is the warranty?

SwissGear backs it with a 10-year limited warranty.

What comes in the box?

The backpack and a key fob. No rain cover or laptop sleeve insert is included.

Our take on the Swissgear Scansmart Backpack

The SwissGear ScanSmart is a 17-inch laptop backpack built around a checkpoint-friendly design: the laptop section unzips and lies flat so it can pass through TSA screening without removing the computer. It holds 8.19 gallons (about 31 liters) in 1200D polyester, weighs 3.3 lbs, and measures 18.5 x 13.25 x 9 inches. It carries a 10-year limited warranty, which is long for a backpack at this level. The 4.5-out-of-5 rating from 51 ratings puts owner satisfaction high.
