Does the fuel come with the chafer?

No. The chafer ships with the dish, stand and cover. Canned fuel or gel fuel is bought separately, so factor that into the total cost.

How many servings does 9 quarts hold?

About 36 one-cup servings, or roughly 72 half-cup ladles. That fits a buffet line or a party of 40 to 60 people with other food on the table.

Can I use it without the stand?

Yes. The food pan and cover work on their own, but the stand is what holds the fuel and lifts the dish to a comfortable ladling height.

Is it dishwasher safe?

The stainless food pan and cover are dishwasher safe. Wash the stand and fuel holder by hand to protect the finish and remove soot.
