Our take on the TCL 40" Q3CR Series 1080P FHD QLED Smart TV with Roku

The TCL Q3CR is a 40-inch 1080p smart TV that uses a QLED panel for better color and brightness than a standard LED set. It runs the Roku smart TV system, so streaming apps and a simple home screen are built in, and it works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri. It is a 60 Hz set with two HDMI ports, aimed at small rooms and secondary TVs. The best new price is $149.99 at Best Buy as of November 3, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.

Pros
  • QLED panel gives stronger color and contrast than typical budget LED TVs
  • Roku interface is fast to learn and has most major streaming apps
  • Works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri voice controls
  • Two HDMI ports cover a streaming stick and a console
  • 40-inch size fits small rooms and tight furniture
Cons
  • 1080p resolution, not 4K, so fine detail is limited on a 40-inch screen
  • 60 Hz refresh rate is not ideal for fast-action gaming
  • Only two HDMI ports, which fills up quickly
  • Only one store lists it new, so price comparison is limited

Questions and answers

Is the TCL Q3CR worth buying over a 4K TV?
At 40 inches, 1080p still looks sharp at normal viewing distance, and the QLED panel helps color. A 4K set costs more and mainly pays off on larger screens or close viewing.
Does this TV have a 120 Hz refresh rate?
No. It is a 60 Hz panel, which is fine for movies and casual shows but not the best choice for fast console gaming.
What is in the box?
You get the TV, a Roku remote, a stand and power cable. Check the listing for the exact remote model and stand hardware.
Can I use Alexa or Google Assistant with it?
Yes. The TV supports Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri, so you can use voice commands through a compatible device or the remote.
When is the best time to buy it?
At $149.99 at Best Buy as of November 3, 2026, it is already near the low end for a 40-inch QLED set. Holiday sales are the most likely time for a further drop.
Where is the TCL 40" Q3CR Series 1080P FHD QLED Smart TV with Roku cheapest?
