Is this TV worth it at $174.97?

For a bedroom or second room, yes. It is a low price for a 40-inch 1080p set with Roku built in. If you want 4K or a brighter picture for a living room, spend more.

Do I need a Roku stick with this TV?

No. Roku is the TV's operating system, so Netflix, Hulu, and other channels are built in. You only need Wi-Fi and your streaming accounts.

Is 1080p enough on a 40-inch screen?

Yes for most people sitting 5 to 8 feet away. The difference from 4K is hard to see at this size unless you sit very close.

Does it support voice control?

Yes. It works with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Siri, and the Roku remote has voice search.

The TV, a Roku voice remote, a stand, and a power cable. HDMI and other cables are not included.

Small 1080p TVs usually drop around Black Friday and back-to-school season. With only one store listing it new, watch that listing for markdowns.

Our take on the Philips 40-Inch Roku TV

The Philips 40-Inch Roku TV is a 1080p flat-screen set with Roku's streaming platform built in, three HDMI ports, and voice control through Google Assistant, Alexa, or Siri. It is a budget second-room or bedroom TV rather than a main-room set. At $174.97 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what a 40-inch 1080p TV costs, and only one store is listing it new, so there is no cheaper alternative to compare against.
