The 5-Series adds quantum dots and better brightness for a clearer HDR step-up. The 4-Series is the cheaper pick if you mainly stream SDR content.

Our take on the Tcl Class 4-Series 43" 4K Ultra HD Smart Led Roku TV

The TCL 4-Series 43" is a budget 4K LED TV running the Roku smart TV platform, with HDR support and voice control through Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa or Siri. It covers the basics well: three HDMI inputs, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, and access to Netflix, Hulu and the full Roku channel store. It is a value set rather than a picture-quality standout, so expect modest brightness and contrast next to mid-range models. Shoppers comparing prices across stores should check the current best price against its recent range before buying, since this class of TV swings in price often around sales events.
