Is the KB 741 worth $349?

If you brew a full carafe most mornings and want hot, consistent coffee from a machine you can repair, yes. If you want a timer or a budget brewer, a cheaper drip machine covers the basics.

How is it different from the Moccamaster KBG?

The KB 741 uses a thermal carafe and a hot plate; the KBG uses a glass carafe with a hot plate. Both brew 10 cups in about 6 minutes with the same copper element.

Does it have a timer or programmable start?

No. You flip the switch and it brews; the only automation is the auto-off at 40 minutes.

What comes in the box?

The KB brewer and, from Cruiser Coffee, a bag of Cruiser Coffee. The listing also specifies a thermal carafe and a water filter.

The KB 741 has run near $300–$360 over the past year, and $349.00 at Cruiser Coffee as of November 4, 2026 is near the top. Watch for holiday sales, when it has dropped toward $300.

Does it need special filters?

It uses standard #4 cone paper filters, sold in most grocery stores.

Our take on the Technivorm Moccamaster KB 741 Coffee Brewer

The Moccamaster KB 741 is a hand-built Dutch drip brewer with a copper boiling element that holds brew water between 196°F and 205°F and finishes a 10-cup (1.25 L) carafe in about 6 minutes. It is SCAA certified, uses a manual drip-stop brew basket so you can slow or pause the flow, and shuts off automatically after 40 minutes. The listing pairs it with a thermal carafe and a water filter. At $349.00 at Cruiser Coffee as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range; the KB 741 has sold near $300–$360 over the past year, so this is not a discount price.
