Our take on the The Last Emperor (Criterion Collection) (4K UHD)

Bernardo Bertolucci's 1987 epic about Emperor Puyi, from his childhood in the Forbidden City to his re-education under the People's Republic, on 4K UHD from Criterion. This three-disc edition carries the 163-minute theatrical cut with DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 English audio and English subtitles, framed at 2.35:1. At $31.99 at Orbit DVD as of November 5, 2026, it is the lowest of the four new prices we track. Criterion 4K releases typically hold near list for a while and dip during the label's biannual 50% off sales, so this is a fair but not rock-bottom price.
