Our take on the Therm-a-Rest Parsec 20 Sleeping Bag

The Parsec 20 is Therm-a-Rest's ultralight three-season mummy bag, built with 900-fill-power Nikwax Hydrophobic Down and a water-resistant shell. It is rated to 20°F and comes with a stuff sack and a pocket. At $469.95 at Backcountry.com as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so it is not a bargain moment.

Questions and answers

Is the Parsec 20 warm enough for freezing nights?
It is rated to 20°F, which suits most three-season trips. Pair it with an insulated pad, since ground warmth matters as much as the bag.
How does it compare with the Therm-a-Rest Hyperion 20?
The Hyperion is lighter and more minimalist, while the Parsec adds a more protective shell and a roomier cut. Choose the Hyperion for fast packing, the Parsec for comfort.
What is included with the bag?
It ships with a stuff sack and has an internal pocket. A compression sack is not listed.
Is $469.95 a good price?
That is the best new price found, at Backcountry.com as of November 5, 2026, and it is near the top of the bag's recent range. Waiting for a seasonal sale is reasonable.
Does the down stay warm when wet?
The 900-fill down is treated to resist moisture, so it keeps more loft in damp conditions than untreated down. It is still not a synthetic bag for soaking wet trips.
Where is the Therm-a-Rest Parsec 20 Sleeping Bag cheapest?
At Backcountry.com, for $469.95, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Therm-a-Rest Parsec 20 Sleeping Bag?
2 stores we checked sell it, including REI, Backcountry.com.
