The Burley Thru Axle is a replacement rear axle that lets a bike with a 12mm thru axle pull a Burley kid, cargo, or pet trailer. It replaces the stock axle and adds the hitch mount the trailer coupler attaches to. This version is 174–180mm long with a 1.0mm thread pitch, made of 7075 aluminum at 140g. It is a small part with a narrow fit range, so the exact length and pitch must match your frame and dropout.

Will this fit my bike?
Only if your bike has a 12mm thru axle with 1.0mm thread pitch and a hub/dropout width in the 174–180mm range. Check Burley's Thru Axle Fit Guide or ask your bike maker before ordering.
What is in the box?
The axle plus a flat spacer, and on some SKUs a conical spacer, with a manual. Spacers set the hitch position; which ones you get depends on the SKU.
How tight should I torque it?
12 Nm maximum, using a 5mm hex key. Do not exceed that, since it is an aluminum axle.
Does it work with any trailer brand?
It is built for Burley trailers with the standard Burley hitch. Other brands use different couplers and may not fit.
Is it worth it over a clamp-on hitch?
Yes for thru-axle bikes, since clamp-on hitches often do not fit or can damage the frame. It is the intended mounting method.
