Is the Gold Edition worth it over the standard game?

Yes if you want the expansions. The Season Pass adds Underground, Survival and Last Stand, which the standard edition lacks. At a low price the bundle is the better buy.

Do I need PlayStation Plus to play?

Yes for online play, including co-op and the Dark Zone. The game is online-only, so a PlayStation Plus subscription is required.

What is included in the Gold Edition?

The base game plus the Season Pass, which covers the Underground, Survival and Last Stand expansions and their associated content. It is a download code, not a disc.

Yes, most of the campaign can be played alone. The Dark Zone and some endgame content are built around grouping, and solo play there is harder.

Is the player base still active?

It is small. Matchmaking for early missions still works at peak times, but expect longer waits and quieter servers than at launch.

Ubisoft titles drop sharply during publisher sales and holiday promotions. Watch for a discount rather than paying full price for a 2016 game.

Our take on the Tom Clancy's The Division Gold Edition

Tom Clancy's The Division Gold Edition is the 2016 Ubisoft loot-shooter for PlayStation 4, sold here as a download code rather than a disc. The Gold Edition bundles the base game with the Season Pass, which adds three expansions: Underground, Survival and Last Stand. It is a cover-based third-person shooter set in a pandemic-hit Manhattan, built around co-op play and a Dark Zone where players can turn on each other. The game is old enough that its price is usually low; check the current listing against typical prices for the Gold Edition before buying.
