Our take on the Toter - Trash Can & Recycling Container Lids Lid Shape: Square Container Shape: Square

This is a replacement lid for Toter 96-gallon wheeled trash cans, sold in black or graystone. It is molded high-density polyethylene with a matte finish and a hinge that secures to the existing can, so you reuse the cart and swap only the lid. The best new price is $49.99 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, and 5 stores list it new. That is close to what a full replacement cart costs on sale, so check the cart's model number before buying a lid alone.

Questions and answers

Will this lid fit my Toter cart?
It is made for Toter 96-gallon carts, model 79296. Check the model number stamped on your cart before ordering, since Toter has changed hinge designs over the years.
Is a replacement lid worth it versus a new cart?
At $49.99 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, the lid costs a good part of a new cart. If only the lid is broken and the hinge is intact, the lid is the cheaper fix.
Does it come with hinge pins?
The listing describes the lid only. If your pins are missing or snapped, plan to source them separately or reuse the old ones.
What color should I pick?
Black and graystone are both offered. Match the cart body so the lid looks original and to keep the same heat buildup in summer.
Can I use it on a non-Toter can?
No. It is shaped for Toter's square 96-gallon carts and will not seat on other brands' cans.
When is the price lowest?
Replacement lids see little seasonal discounting. Watch for store pickup promotions and compare the 5 stores listing it new rather than waiting for a big markdown.
Where is the Toter - Trash Can & Recycling Container Lids Lid Shape: Square Container Shape: Square cheapest?
At Walmart, for $49.99, 27% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
