Is the Trailhead Bundle worth it over the grill alone?

If you plan to cook away from an outlet, the included inverter and carrying case are the main reason to buy the bundle. If you already have a power station or only cook at home, the grill alone may be cheaper.

How does the Trailhead compare to a full-size Traeger?

It uses the same pellet-and-smoke approach but has a much smaller cooking area and hopper. It suits small meals and travel, not large backyard cooks.

Can I run it without the inverter?

Yes, from a standard household outlet or a portable power station. The inverter is for powering it from a vehicle when no outlet is available.

What comes in the box?

The Trailhead smoker, the power inverter, and a carrying case that doubles as a cover.

How many people can it cook for?

It is sized for small cooks, roughly two to four people depending on what you are smoking. Plan on batches for larger groups.

Portable grills like this often drop around spring grilling season and fall clearance. The only new price listed is $449.99 at BJ's Wholesale Club as of November 5, 2026.
