Questions and answers

Is the Traxxas Slash 4X4 Brushless worth it?
Yes for a first hobby-grade truck: it is durable, waterproof and backed by wide parts support. Budget for a LiPo battery and charger, since neither is included.
What do I need to run it?
A 2S or 3S LiPo pack with a Traxxas connector and a compatible LiPo charger. The 5200mAh New Wave pack gives roughly 20 to 30 minutes of runtime.
How fast is it really?
About 40+ mph on 2S and 60+ mph on 3S with the optional high-speed gearing. Running 3S hard shortens runtime and raises motor and ESC temperatures.
Is it good for racing?
It fits short-course classes and the TSM and 4WD help on loose tracks. Serious racers often swap tires, shocks and gearing, so factor that into the cost.
Can it run in water and snow?
Yes, the electronics are waterproof and it is rated for water, mud, snow and off-road use. Dry and clean it after wet runs, especially bearings and driveshafts.
When is it cheapest?
The best new price is $259.95 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026. Holiday sales and bundle deals with battery and charger are the usual times to watch.
Where is the Traxxas Slash cheapest?
At Amazon, for $259.95, 35% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Traxxas Slash?
5 stores we checked sell it, including Traxxas, Havoc Speed, Mikes Hobby, eBay, Amazon.
