Is the True Catalyst 7X4 heat moldable?

Yes. The boot is heat moldable, and a shop can bake it to speed break-in and shape it closer to your foot.

Can I replace the steel on these skates?

Yes. They use the True Shift Max holder with replaceable Shift Max DLC steel, so worn or damaged runners can be swapped out.

What level of player are these skates for?

They are senior skates aimed at intermediate adult players. Strong beginners and rec-league skaters get a stiff, moldable boot without top-tier pricing.

How does the Catalyst 7X4 compare with the 9X4?

The 9X4 sits higher in the Catalyst line with a stiffer, lighter build. The 7X4 keeps the moldable fit and Shift Max holder at a lower price.

Is $477.99 a good price for these skates?

It is the only new price listed as of November 7, 2026, at eBay, so there is no lower new price to compare against. Check whether the listing includes the stock steel and holder.

What comes in the box?

Expect a pair of skates with Shift Max DLC steel mounted in the Shift Max holders. Confirm with the seller whether a skate bag or extra laces are included.

Our take on the True Catalyst 7X4 Senior Ice Hockey Skates

The True Catalyst 7X4 is a senior ice hockey skate built around a heat-moldable boot with a moisture-wicking liner, a dual-density foam tongue and a composite reinforced outsole. It runs True's Shift Max holder with replaceable Shift Max DLC steel, so blades can be swapped rather than replaced whole. The best new price is $477.99 at eBay as of November 7, 2026, the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare it against.
