Our take on the Tufenkian Moonscape Malachite Custom 9x14 Area Rug

The Tufenkian Moonscape Malachite is a hand-knotted rug made in Nepal from hand-spun wool, linen and bamboo silk, in a custom 9'8" by 14'9" size and a deep green Malachite colorway. It is a one-of-a-kind piece built for a large family room or open living area, and it ships from Tufenkian's New Jersey warehouse. The best new price is $17,437 at Tufenkian as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no discount market to compare against.

Questions and answers

Is the Tufenkian Moonscape Malachite worth $17,437?
That price buys a one-of-a-kind, hand-knotted rug in a custom size, which is normal for Tufenkian's custom work. Whether it is worth it depends on how much you value a single piece versus a production rug at a fraction of the cost.
What size is this rug exactly?
It measures 9'8" by 14'9", listed as a 9x14 custom size. That fits a large family room or open area; check your room dimensions and leave border space around it.
What is the rug made of?
Hand-spun wool, linen and bamboo silk, hand-knotted in Nepal. The bamboo silk adds sheen and softness, while the wool gives durability.
Is it in stock?
Yes. Tufenkian lists it as available for immediate delivery from its New Jersey warehouse as of November 4, 2026.
Can I get another one if this sells?
No. It is a one-of-a-kind custom piece, so once it sells there is no identical second unit. A similar rug would mean a new custom order.
When is the best time to buy?
With only one store listing it new at $17,437 as of November 4, 2026, there is no competing price to wait for. The main risk is the piece selling, not a price drop.
Where is the Tufenkian Moonscape Malachite Custom 9x14 Area Rug cheapest?
At Tufenkian, for $17,437.00, 37% off, as of our latest check.
