Our take on the Tulo 8" Medium Comfort Memory Foam Mattress in a Box

The Tulo 8" Medium Comfort is a gel memory foam mattress in a box sold in a King size. It is a medium-firm feel with an 8-inch profile, aimed at budget shoppers who want a simple foam bed delivered compressed. Tulo is Mattress Firm's house brand, so it is easy to try in a store before buying. It is a basic one-layer-style foam build, not a hybrid, so expect a plain all-foam feel rather than springs.

Questions and answers

Is the Tulo 8-inch mattress good for side sleepers?
It is a medium-firm foam bed, and many side sleepers find 8 inches too firm for shoulder and hip pressure. Side sleepers over about 150 pounds may want a thicker or softer model.
How does it compare with the Tulo 10-inch?
The 10-inch adds more foam depth and a plusher feel, which suits heavier sleepers and side sleepers better. The 8-inch is the cheaper, firmer option.
Does it need a box spring?
No. It works on a platform bed, slatted frame, or adjustable base. A solid or slatted foundation is fine; a box spring is optional.
How long does it take to expand?
It ships compressed in a box and typically reaches full shape within 24 to 72 hours. Some odor may linger for a day or two after unboxing.
What sizes and firmness levels does it come in?
Tulo sells the 8-inch Medium Comfort in several sizes, including this King. The line also offers other thicknesses and firmness levels if this one feels too firm.
When is it cheapest?
Mattress Firm runs sales around holidays and major shopping events, and older models get marked down when new versions arrive. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
What do buyers say about the Tulo 8" Medium Comfort Memory Foam Mattress in a Box?
