Our take on the Udreamer Bluetooth Turntable with Built-in Speakers and USB

The Udreamer Bluetooth Turntable is a belt-drive record player with built-in speakers, so it plays vinyl without a separate amp or speakers. It spins 33.3, 45 and 78 rpm records, adds Bluetooth for streaming from a phone, and has a USB connection for digitizing records to a computer. It is a wooden-look portable unit aimed at casual listeners and first-time turntable buyers.

Questions and answers

Is the Udreamer turntable worth it?
For a first turntable or a gift, yes: it plays records out of the box with no extra gear. If you want serious sound, a deck with a separate amp and speakers will do better for more money.
Does it need external speakers?
No. It has built-in speakers, so you can play records straight away. You can still connect external speakers if the unit has an output, but the built-ins are the main draw.
Can it play 78 rpm records?
Yes, it has a 78 rpm setting. Check that the supplied stylus is suitable for 78s, since shellac records often need a wider stylus.
How do I record records to my computer?
Connect the USB output to a computer and record with audio software. Expect basic quality, fine for casual archiving rather than hi-fi transfers.
Does it work with Bluetooth headphones?
Bluetooth on this unit is for streaming audio into the turntable's speakers, not for sending sound out to headphones. Use the headphone jack if it has one.
When is it cheapest?
Budget turntables like this usually drop around Black Friday and holiday sales. Watch the price history rather than buying at full price.
