Our take on the Vesper High Base Cat Tree

The Vesper High Base is a 47.8-inch multi-level cat tree built on a high-quality MDF frame with a walnut, oak or black laminate finish. It combines a cubed den, memory-foam cushions and a bordered sisal scratching mat, plus a rattan ball toy that secures in place. It is a furniture-style piece aimed at owners who want scratching and napping spots that look like a sideboard rather than carpeted posts. The best new price is $124.99 at Chewy.com as of November 5, 2026, with 2 stores listing it new.

Best forOwners who want cat furniture that matches wood-toned decorHouseholds with small to large catsCats that like enclosed dens and cushioned napping spotsBuyers who prefer a solid MDF build over particleboard
Pros
  • Solid MDF frame with a laminate finish that wipes clean
  • Cubed den gives cats a covered place to hide and sleep
  • Memory-foam cushions are machine washable
  • Bordered sisal mat targets scratching without shredding carpet
  • Rattan ball toy secures in place for batting and play
  • Multi-level layout suits both climbing and lounging
Cons
  • Heavy at about 45 lb, so moving it takes two people
  • Assembly required; the hex key is the only tool included
  • Synthetic fabric cover is not as scratch-resistant as full sisal wrapping
  • Tall 47.8-inch footprint needs floor space and a stable corner
  • Laminate finish can show scuffs and claw marks over time
