Our take on the Vesteel 15-Piece High Carbon Stainless Steel Knife Set with Block and Self Sharpening

The Vesteel 15-Piece Knife Set is a budget kitchen block set with high carbon stainless steel blades and a built-in self-sharpening slot in the block. It covers the basics: chef's, bread, slicing, utility, paring and steak knives, plus kitchen shears and a sharpener. At $25.99 at Walmart as of November 8, 2026, it is a low-cost starter set rather than a long-term investment.

Questions and answers

Is the Vesteel 15-piece knife set worth it?
At $25.99 at Walmart as of November 8, 2026, it is a reasonable starter set for a first kitchen. Don't expect the edge retention or fit of a $150 block.
Are the knives dishwasher safe?
The set is generally sold as dishwasher safe, but hand washing and drying is safer. Moisture and heat shorten blade life and can cause spotting.
How does the self-sharpening block work?
Each slot has built-in ceramic or carbide sharpeners, so inserting and removing a knife hones the edge. It keeps knives usable but removes metal over time.
What knives are included?
The 15 pieces include a chef's knife, bread knife, slicing knife, utility knife, paring knife, six steak knives, kitchen shears, a sharpener and the block. Exact contents can vary by listing.
Is it good for a beginner cook?
Yes. It covers the core knives a new cook needs at a low price, and the block keeps them organized.
When is the best time to buy it?
Budget knife sets see the deepest discounts around Black Friday and back-to-school sales. Check the price history before buying.
Where is the Vesteel 15-Piece High Carbon Stainless Steel Knife Set with Block and Self Sharpening cheapest?
At Walmart, for $25.99, 51% off, as of our latest check.
