Our take on the VEVOR 8KW 12V Diesel Air Heater with Remote Control

The VEVOR 8KW 12V Diesel Air Heater is a Chinese-made parking heater kit that burns diesel to blow hot air into a garage, van, truck cab or small cabin. It runs on 12V DC and comes with a remote, a timer and a metal housing, but no thermostat. At $89.99 at Wayfair as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, which is typical for these kits.

Best forVan and camper owners who want cheap off-grid heatGarage and workshop heating in cold monthsTruckers and fleet drivers heating a cab overnightDIYers comfortable with fuel line and exhaust routing
Pros
  • 8KW output is strong for its size and price
  • Remote control and timer let you start heat before you arrive
  • 12V DC power works from a vehicle battery or a small converter
  • Compact metal body, about 16 lb, fits tight spaces
  • Low entry price compared with name-brand parking heaters
Cons
  • No thermostat, so heat output is set by hand
  • Combustion exhaust must be vented outside; install errors are a real carbon monoxide risk
  • Fuel pump and controller noise bothers some users
  • 8KW is often more than a 161 sq ft space needs, so it cycles hot and cold
  • Build quality and instructions vary; some units arrive with faults

Questions and answers

Is the VEVOR 8KW diesel heater worth it?
For a garage, van or truck cab and a buyer willing to install it carefully, yes. It costs $89.99 at Wayfair as of November 5, 2026, far less than branded parking heaters, and it delivers real heat. Expect to spend time on setup and accept some pump noise.
How does it compare with a 5KW diesel heater?
8KW gives more heat but uses more fuel and is overkill for a 161 sq ft space. A 5KW unit runs steadier in small vans and cabins. Choose 8KW for a large, poorly insulated garage or a big truck cab in deep cold.
What do I need to install it?
A 12V power source, a diesel tank or fuel line, an exhaust pipe routed outside, and a hole for combustion air intake. The kit includes the heater, controller and remote, but you supply mounting hardware and fuel plumbing. Never vent exhaust into the space you heat.
Does it come with a thermostat?
No. It has a remote and a timer, but heat level is set manually on the controller. It will not hold a precise temperature on its own, so the space warms and cools in cycles.
Can I run it from a standard wall outlet?
Not directly. It is a 12V DC unit, so you need a 12V battery or a power supply that converts 110V to 12V with enough amperage. Check the current draw before choosing a converter.
When is the price lowest?
Diesel heater kits usually drop in late summer and early fall, before cold weather demand. The current $89.99 at Wayfair as of November 5, 2026 is already near the bottom of its recent range.
Where is the VEVOR 8KW 12V Diesel Air Heater with Remote Control cheapest?
At Wayfair, for $89.99, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the VEVOR 8KW 12V Diesel Air Heater with Remote Control?
Rated 4.7 out of 5 from 401 ratings.
Where can I buy the VEVOR 8KW 12V Diesel Air Heater with Remote Control?
3 stores we checked sell it, including Wayfair, Walmart, eBay.
