Is $479.99 a good price for this set?

It is the only new price we track, listed at Abt Electronics as of November 7, 2026. With no other new prices to compare, judge it against what similar seven-piece forged German sets cost.

Are the knives really dishwasher safe?

Viking lists them as dishwasher safe and rust free. Even so, dishwasher heat and detergent dull forged edges faster, so hand washing and drying keeps them sharper longer.

What is included in the set?

Seven knives (chef's, santoku, bread, carving, utility, paring and tomato), kitchen scissors, a knife sharpener and a wood block.

Is there a steak knife set?

No. The seven knives are all prep and carving knives, so you would need to buy steak knives separately.
