Is this kit worth it over buying parts separately?

If you want one order and no compatibility guesswork, yes. You pay a small premium over buying the board, PSU, card and case individually.

Not as a normal desktop. The Pi 4 runs Raspberry Pi OS and Linux well; Windows on it is unofficial and slow. For Windows, buy a mini PC.

What comes in the box?

The Pi 4 board, a case, power supply, microSD card, HDMI cable and heat sinks. Keyboard, mouse and monitor are not included.

For a Pi-hole or simple sensor project, 2 GB is enough. Choose 8 GB for desktop use, browsers, containers or multiple services.

Should I buy a Pi 5 instead?

The Pi 5 is faster and has PCIe for an SSD, but it needs a different PSU and case. This kit is the simpler, cheaper path if you don't need the extra speed.

Pi boards rarely discount; watch for bundle sales around back-to-school and holidays. Compare the kit price against the board plus parts before buying.
