Our take on the Weekender 6" Gel Memory Foam Mattress with Waterproof Cover

The Weekender is a 6-inch gel memory foam mattress with a water-resistant cover, sold in a 42-inch-wide size that suits a narrow bunk, daybed, or small guest bed. The gel infusion is meant to pull heat away from the foam, and the low profile keeps it from towering over a low frame. At $229.99 at Royalty Furniture & Appliances as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, with three stores listing it new.

Pros
  • 6-inch profile fits bunks and trundles
  • Gel-infused foam aims to sleep cooler than plain memory foam
  • Water-resistant cover protects against spills
  • Firm, supportive feel for a foam mattress
  • Simple setup with no box spring required
Cons
  • Thin 6-inch build offers little cushioning for heavier adults
  • Memory foam can still sleep warm for some
  • 42-inch width limits it to narrow frames
  • No edge support, so the perimeter feels soft
  • Cover is water-resistant, not waterproof

Questions and answers

Is the Weekender 6-inch mattress good for a bunk bed?
Yes. The 6-inch height and 42-inch width suit most bunk and trundle frames, and the low profile leaves room for a guardrail. Check your frame's maximum mattress height before buying.
Does the gel foam really sleep cooler?
Gel infusion helps move heat away from the body better than basic memory foam, but a 6-inch foam mattress still traps some warmth. Hot sleepers may prefer a hybrid or innerspring.
Is the cover waterproof?
The listing calls it water-resistant, not waterproof. It handles spills and accidents, but standing liquid can soak through over time, so a waterproof protector is still a good idea.
Is $229.99 a good price?
That is the best new price among three stores as of November 4, 2026, but it sits at the high end of the recent range. Waiting for a sale could save money if you are not in a hurry.
What sizes does it come in?
This listing is the 42-inch-wide size. Weekender sells the same mattress in other widths, so confirm the size matches your frame before ordering.
Does it need a box spring?
No. The foam works on a slatted frame, platform bed, or bunk base. A box spring adds height you probably do not want under a 6-inch mattress.
Where is the Weekender 6" Gel Memory Foam Mattress with Waterproof Cover cheapest?
At Royalty Furniture & Appliances, for $229.99, 18% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Weekender 6" Gel Memory Foam Mattress with Waterproof Cover?
3 stores we checked sell it, including Royalty Furniture & Appliances, Country Furniture, Furnish N Save.
