Our take on the Wein Vortex VI-3500 Room Ionic Air Purifier

The Wein Vortex VI-3500 is a small, filterless ionic air purifier for a tabletop or a single room. It has no fan and no motor, so it makes no motor noise, and it uses a pulsing on-off cycle instead of a steady stream. It weighs about 1 pound 2 ounces and measures roughly 7.5 by 7.75 by 1.5 inches. The best new price is $86.99 at eBay as of November 6, 2026, with 3 stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Does it need a filter?
No. It is filterless and uses ionic purification, so there are no replacement filters to buy.
Is it loud?
It has no fan or motor, so there is no motor noise. The pulsing on-off cycle is the only operation.
Does it produce ozone?
Wein states no detectable ozone, well below the OSHA standard. Ionic purifiers can produce trace ozone, so ventilate the room if you are sensitive.
How big a room does it cover?
It is a tabletop unit meant for a single room. Expect it to suit a small bedroom or office rather than a large open space.
Does it remove dust and pollen?
Ionic purifiers charge particles so they settle or collect, but this model has no HEPA filter, so it will not capture particles as thoroughly as a HEPA unit.
When is it cheapest?
The best new price found is $86.99 at eBay as of November 6, 2026, with 3 stores listing it new. Check the price history before buying.
