Our take on the Women's 10K Gold Rope Chain Necklace

A women's rope chain necklace in 10K gold, 2.45 mm wide, with a lobster clasp and a hollow link construction. The white gold finish gives it a bright, silver-toned look, and the rope twist adds texture that catches light. It is a plain chain with no pendant, so it works alone or as a base for a charm. The best new price is $271.87 at JCPenney as of November 5, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no lower price to compare against right now.

Best forShoppers who want a real gold chain at a lower price than 14KWearing alone or layered with other chainsA base chain for a pendant or charmEveryday wear in a bright white-metal tone
Pros
  • 10K gold is more affordable than 14K or 18K and still solid gold
  • Hollow links keep the necklace light on the neck
  • Rope twist adds shine and hides small scratches
  • Lobster clasp is secure and easy to fasten alone
  • 2.45 mm width reads as a visible chain without being heavy
Cons
  • Hollow links dent and crush more easily than solid links
  • 10K gold is 41.7% gold, so it is less gold than 14K and can tarnish over time
  • White gold usually needs rhodium plating to stay bright
  • Only one store lists it new, so price competition is limited
  • No pendant included, and the chain may not suit heavy charms

Questions and answers

Is 10K gold good for a chain necklace?
It is real gold at 41.7% purity, harder and cheaper than 14K. It can tarnish and looks less yellow over time, but it holds up well for daily wear.
Will a hollow rope chain break easily?
Hollow links are light but dent or crush under pressure. Avoid sleeping or exercising in it, and do not pull on it to remove it.
What does white 10K gold look like?
It is a pale silver-white tone, usually plated with rhodium for brightness. The plating wears off with wear and can be replated by a jeweler.
Can I put a pendant on this chain?
It has no pendant, and the lobster clasp and hollow links may not suit a heavy charm. A light pendant is the safer choice.
Is $271.87 a good price for this necklace?
Only one store lists it new at $271.87 at JCPenney as of November 5, 2026, so there is no competing price to compare. Check the gram weight, since hollow 10K chains are priced largely on gold content.
When is it cheapest to buy?
Gold chain prices follow the gold market and store promotions. Jewelry sales around holidays and JCPenney coupon events are the usual times to watch.
Where is the Women's 10K Gold Rope Chain Necklace cheapest?
At JCPenney, for $271.87, 85% off, as of our latest check.
