Questions and answers

Is the Precision Adjust Elite worth it over the standard Precision Adjust?
The Elite adds the 600 and 800 diamond grits, a fine ceramic hone and a leather strop, so you can polish an edge rather than just sharpen it. If you only need a working edge, the base kit covers that; if you want a refined, stropped edge, the Elite's extras justify the step up.
What angle should I set for kitchen knives?
Most kitchen knives do well around 15 to 20 degrees per side, while hunting and heavier-use knives often take 20 to 25 degrees. The clamp adjusts from 15 to 30 degrees, so match the angle to the steel and how hard you use the knife.
Does it work on serrated knives?
Yes. Work Sharp lists serrated knives among the supported blades, and the narrow stones let you work the scallops. Sharpen the flat side of a serrated edge lightly and focus on the beveled side.
What comes in the box?
You get the sharpener, seven abrasives (220, 320, 400, 600 and 800 diamond grits, fine ceramic and a leather strop) and the guide rod setup. No knives or extra clamps are included.
How long does it take to sharpen a dull knife?
Reprofiling a very dull or damaged edge on the 220 grit can take several minutes per knife, then you work up through the finer grits. Touching up an already sharp edge on the ceramic and strop takes a minute or two.
When is it cheapest?
The best new price seen is $99.99 at eBay as of November 6, 2026. Prices move around holidays and sales events, so check the price history before buying.
