Is this set good for beginners?

Yes. It covers light to moderate loads and is priced low, which suits people starting out. The coarse 4.4 lb steps limit fine progression later.

How much weight does it hold?

The set is built from 4.4 lb plates on a 1-inch bar, with a listed gross weight of 45 lb. Check the plate count in the box before assuming a per-dumbbell maximum.

How long does it take to change weights?

Expect a minute or so per dumbbell. You unscrew the spinlock collar, add or remove plates, then tighten it again.

Can I use it for heavy lifting?

No. It is aimed at beginners and light home use. For heavy pressing or rows, a heavier set or a rack is safer.

When is the best time to buy?

At $39.99 at Target as of November 5, 2026, it is already at the low end of its recent range. Watch for holiday sales for further drops.
