Our take on the Yamaha DGX-670 88-Key Portable Grand Piano

The Yamaha DGX-670 is an 88-key portable grand with fully weighted, graded hammer-action keys and a built-in 6-watt-per-channel stereo speaker system, so it works as a standalone piano without extra gear. It carries Yamaha's CFX concert grand sample plus hundreds of voices, a color LCD, and mic input with harmony and vocal effects. At $749.99 at Palen Music Center as of November 3, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, where it has typically run closer to $800–$850.

Questions and answers

Is the DGX-670 worth it over a basic digital piano?
Yes if you want voices, styles, recording and mic input in one unit. If you only need a piano sound and weighted keys, a simpler slab like the P-125 costs less.
How does it compare with the DGX-660 it replaced?
The DGX-670 adds the CFX grand sample, a color LCD, mic input with harmony, and USB audio recording. The key action and speaker layout carry over.
Does it have Bluetooth?
It supports wireless MIDI connection to apps, but it does not stream Bluetooth audio from a phone. Use the aux or USB input for playback.
What is in the box?
The keyboard, a sustain pedal, a music rest and a power adapter. A stand and bench are sold separately.
Can I use it as a MIDI controller?
Yes. It sends MIDI over USB and wireless, and the weighted 88 keys work well as a controller for piano libraries.
When is it cheapest?
It has run near $750 at Palen Music Center as of November 3, 2026, the low end of its recent range. Holiday and back-to-school sales are the usual times to watch.
