Which is better for a beginner home gym?

Both top out at 12.5 lb per hand, so either works for light training. The CAP pair is cheaper and includes a storage tray, which makes it the easier first buy.

Is the CAP set worth the savings over the Uboway?

Yes for most shoppers. It is $83.80 versus $116.99 at Amazon as of November 5, 2026, and adds a twist-dial system and storage case. Pick the Uboway only if you want the rainbow plates.

Which adjusts faster?

Both use a dial-style system with 2.5 lb steps. CAP's full-rotation handle sits in a cradle tray during changes, which keeps plates aligned; Uboway's dial is a straightforward twist.

The Uboway uses stainless steel; the CAP uses cast iron with a semi-gloss finish. Both are durable for home use, but stainless steel resists rust better in humid rooms.

Can I outgrow either set?

Yes. Both stop at 12.5 lb per hand, which is light for pressing and rows after a few months. Plan to add heavier dumbbells or a 25–55 lb adjustable set later.

Do both come as a pair?

Yes. The Uboway listing is a pair of two dumbbells, and the CAP set includes 2 handles, 4 collars and 8 plates (4x 2.5 lb, 4x 5 lb).

As of November 5, 2026, the CAP pair is $83.80 at Amazon and the Uboway pair is $116.99 at Amazon, so the CAP saves about $33.

Today the CAP Adjustable Dumbbell Set 12.5 lb costs $33.19 less at its best price.
