Which is better for reading in the bath?

The 2026 Paperwhite. Its specs list waterproofing; the Signature Edition's specs do not. Neither listing gives an IP rating, so check the depth and time limits before you trust either one in water.

Is the Signature Edition worth the extra $13.99?

Yes if you dislike lock-screen ads and want 32 GB. The price gap is small, and the Signature Edition also carries the longer 12-week battery rating. Skip it if you want the lowest price and never notice ads.

Which holds more books?

The Signature Edition, at 32 GB versus 16 GB. That matters most for audiobooks and large PDFs; plain novels take little space on either.

Which lasts longer on a charge?

Amazon rates the Signature Edition at up to 12 weeks and the 2026 Paperwhite at up to 10 weeks. Real use with front light and Wi-Fi will shorten both.

Can I listen to audiobooks on both?

The 2026 Paperwhite lists audio playback. The Signature Edition's specs do not list it, so check before buying if audio matters to you.

Do both have a 7-inch screen?

Yes. Both list a 7-inch glare-free E Ink display, so text size and page layout will feel similar.
