Questions and answers
- Which is better for a living room shelf?
- The Lenox Carousel Horse. It is about 16 in tall and weighs 1 lb 5.5 oz, so it fits on a table or shelf. The Design Toscano is a 72 lb floor statue.
- Which is better for a hotel lobby or restaurant?
- The Design Toscano. Its 57 in height and fiberglass build suit a large public space, and its listing names hotels and restaurants as themes.
- Is the Design Toscano worth the extra money?
- Only if you need its size. It recently sold for $1,706.50 to $2,134.96, while the Lenox is a small porcelain collectible. For a shelf, the Lenox does the job for far less.
- Which one has more hand detail?
- The Lenox. It is hand-painted with 23 jewels, hand-sculpted pearl beading and a genuine horse hair tail. The Design Toscano relies on a painted saddle and bridle.
- Which lasts longer?
- The fiberglass Design Toscano resists knocks better. Porcelain like the Lenox can chip or crack if dropped, so keep it out of reach of children and pets.
- Can the Design Toscano go outdoors?
- Fiberglass and polyresin handle weather better than porcelain, but check the finish and keep it out of standing water. The Lenox porcelain should stay indoors.
