Which is better for stairs and car interiors?

The Scorpion Quick Flip. At 1.8 lb with a built-in crevice tool it is made for exactly that. The PowerMax works on stairs too, but you are moving 12 lb and dragging a cord.

Can the Scorpion replace a full-size vacuum?

No. Its nozzle is 1.5 inches wide and it has no brush roll, so cleaning a whole carpeted room would take far too long. It is a supplement to an upright.

Is the PowerMax worth the extra $10.91?

If you need to clean floors, yes. At $65.91 at eBay as of November 6, 2026 it is only about $11 more than the $55.00 Scorpion and does a job the handheld cannot.

Which has better reach?

The PowerMax. It has a 20-foot cord and 8 feet of hose and wand reach, against a 16-foot cord and 2.5-foot hose on the Scorpion.

The Scorpion is rated 84 dB at 3 feet. Dirt Devil does not publish a dB figure for the PowerMax, so a direct comparison is not possible.

No. Both are bagless with easy-empty dirt cups and cartridge filters you rinse or replace.

Dirt Devil Scorpion Quick Flip Hand Vacuum vs Dirt Devil PowerMax Upright Vacuum

These are different tools, not rivals. The Scorpion Quick Flip is a 1.8 lb handheld for stairs, car seats and small spills; the PowerMax is a 12 lb upright for whole-room carpet and hard floor cleaning. As of November 6, 2026, the Scorpion's best new price is $55.00 at eBay and the PowerMax's is $65.91 at eBay, so the upright costs about $11 more. Buy the upright if you need to clean floors; buy the handheld if you need to clean above and inside them.

Today the Dirt Devil Scorpion Quick Flip Hand Vacuum costs $10.91 less at its best price.
