Which is better for a 3-year-old?

Both are rated for ages 3 and up. The Crayola brush suits a child who likes art, and the Hot Wheels cars suit a child who likes vehicles. The cars have no small parts to refill, but they are small enough to be a choking hazard for kids under 3.

The Hot Wheels cars are diecast metal and have no batteries or supplies to run out. The Crayola brush runs on batteries and the paint and paper get used up, so it needs refills to keep going.

Is the Crayola set worth the extra cost?

It is if mess-free painting is the point. Remember the refills: Color Wonder paper and paint are sold separately and run out. The Hot Wheels pack is $10.99 at Fleet Farm as of November 3, 2026, with nothing more to buy.

Are the Hot Wheels cars good for collectors?

They are mainline and variety-pool cars in 1:64 scale, plus one exclusive. That makes a good starter lot, but these are not premium or Treasure Hunt models.

Can the Crayola paint stain clothes or walls?

No. Color Wonder paint is clear and only shows on Color Wonder paper, so it does not mark skin, clothing or walls.

Is the Hot Wheels price likely to drop?

It has traded between $9.74 and $9.79 since October 31, 2026, so $10.99 is above the recent low. Check the price history before buying.
