Are these the same kit?

Effectively yes. Both are Schluter 38 x 60 kits with an off-center drain, and both list at $469.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026. The SKU and listing details differ, so confirm the box contents before ordering.

Which is better for a 38 x 60 alcove?

Either fits a standard 38 x 60 alcove with an off-center drain. Check your drain rough-in location against the tray before buying, because off-center trays are not reversible.

Does the kit include the membrane and curb?

B's listing states a 108 sq ft membrane roll, a 5 in. x 33 ft band and a 38 in. curb. A's listing does not state them, so verify with the store that the full kit is in the box.

Is one worth the extra?

Neither costs extra right now. Both are $469.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, so pick on stock and confirmed contents, not price.

They use the same Schluter waterproofing system, so service life is the same. Longevity depends on correct thin-set, banding and slope, not on which SKU you buy.

Do I need the Schluter drain and valve separately?

The kit includes the Kerdi-Drain, but the shower valve and trim are separate. Budget for those and for thin-set and Kerdi-Fix.
