Which is better for an LED strip under a cabinet?

The uxcell. It is a channel made for 8-10mm strip and gives a continuous diffused line. The Selens film is not a housing and will not hold a strip.

Which is better for softening a harsh ceiling light?

The Selens. Cut a sheet to size and stick it over the fixture. The uxcell channel only works with LED strip.

Is the uxcell worth the extra money?

If you are installing strip lighting, yes. It is the only one of the two that mounts and diffuses a strip. If you just want to dim an existing light, the $11.39 Selens does the job.

How much area does the Selens cover?

Three sheets at 7.9 x 11.82 inches each, about 0.65 square feet per sheet. That is enough for a small panel or a few bulbs, not a whole room.

Does the uxcell fit any LED strip?

It fits strips 8mm to 10mm wide. Check your strip width before buying, since wider or narrower strips will not seat in the 14x14mm channel.

The uxcell silicone channel should outlast the PET film, which can yellow, wrinkle or lose adhesion. The Selens is easy to replace when it does.
