Is the Joystone FPV drone worth it for a beginner?

Yes, if you want a cheap first drone to learn on. The beginner modes and two batteries make it forgiving, but the 720p camera and 0.1 mi range limit it to close-in flying.

How long can it actually fly?

The two 3.7V 3000mAh batteries are rated for over 50 minutes combined, roughly 25 minutes per pack. Real times run shorter in wind or at high speed.

Does it need a phone to see the camera feed?

Yes. FPV viewing is through the app on your phone over Wi-Fi, and the app also handles trajectory flight. The controller flies the drone; the phone shows the picture.

What comes in the box?

The drone, controller, two 3.7V 3000mAh lithium batteries and charging gear. Check the listing for the exact accessory list, since the battery spec on the page is inconsistent.

Is $49.79 a good price?

It is at the low end of its recent range, and only one store prices it new as of November 4, 2026. There is little competition to push it lower soon.

It can in calm conditions, but the light foldable frame and 0.1 mi range make it a fair-weather, open-space drone. Skip it for windy days.
