Our take on the 24x30x2 MERV 8 Pleated AC Furnace Filter Case of 6

A case of six pleated HVAC filters from Atomic Filters, sized 24x30x2 nominal, made with synthetic media and a galvanized expanded-metal frame. The listing's specs are inconsistent: the name says MERV 8, but the spec sheet says MERV 13 and quotes 75-80% capture of 3-10 micron particles, which is closer to MERV 8 territory. Rated 3.1 out of 5 from 82 ratings, so buyer satisfaction is middling. At $73.95 for six at Atomic Filters as of November 7, 2026, that is about $12.33 per filter, and only one store lists it new, so there is no price competition to compare against.

Pros
  • Six filters per case, roughly $12.33 each at $73.95
  • Synthetic media resists moisture and microbial growth
  • Galvanized expanded-metal frame holds pleats rigid
  • Suits 1-3 month change intervals
  • Made in the USA
Cons
  • MERV rating is contradictory: name says 8, specs say 13
  • 3.1 out of 5 from 82 ratings is weak for a filter
  • Only one store lists it, so no price comparison
  • Actual length is 23.5 in, not a true 24 in, so fit can be loose

Questions and answers

Is this filter MERV 8 or MERV 13?
The product name says MERV 8, but the spec sheet lists MERV 13 and 75-80% capture of 3-10 micron particles. That capture figure matches MERV 8 more closely, so confirm with the seller before buying.
Will it fit a 24x30x2 slot?
The nominal size is 24x30x2, but the actual length is listed as 23.5 in. Measure your slot and expect a slightly loose fit.
How often should I change it?
The listed service life is 1 to 3 months. Homes with pets or heavy dust should change closer to the one-month mark.
Is $73.95 a good price for six?
That is about $12.33 per filter at Atomic Filters as of November 7, 2026. Only one store lists it new, so there is no competing price to check against.
Does it restrict airflow?
The listing claims reduced airflow drag from the pleat design. A MERV 8 filter is generally a low-restriction choice for most residential systems.
Is it recyclable?
The galvanized expanded-metal frame is listed as recyclable. Check your local program, since mixed media and metal often need separation.
Where is the 24x30x2 MERV 8 Pleated AC Furnace Filter Case of 6 cheapest?
