Our take on the 5-Piece Dining Table Set for 4, Counter Height Modern Kitchen Table and Chairs Set of 4 with Storage Drawers, Marble Dining Table with 4 Upholstered Chairs for Small Space (Walnut)

This is a five-piece counter-height dining set: one table with a marble-look top and four upholstered chairs, sold in a walnut finish. The table has built-in storage drawers, which is unusual at this size and useful in a small dining area. Counter-height seating (about 24-inch seat height) suits kitchens and breakfast nooks better than a standard 30-inch table. It is a budget-tier set, so expect a veneer or laminate marble pattern rather than real stone.

Best forSmall kitchens and breakfast nooks
Apartments and condos with limited floor space
Buyers who want drawers for napkins and cutlery
Households of four who prefer counter-height seating
Pros
  • Storage drawers built into the table
  • Upholstered seats are more comfortable than wood
  • Marble-look top wipes clean easily
  • Counter height works well in open kitchens
  • Seats four in a compact footprint
Cons
  • Counter height is awkward for young children and older guests
  • Marble pattern is a veneer or laminate, not real stone
  • Walnut-and-marble look clashes with some decor
  • Assembly is required and can take an hour or more
  • Chairs and table are lighter-built than solid-wood sets

Questions and answers

Is the marble top real stone?
No. At this price the top is a manufactured marble-look surface, usually laminate or veneer over engineered wood. It resists spills but can chip at the edges and should not take a hot pan directly.
How tall is it, and will standard chairs work with it?
Counter-height sets put the table around 36 inches and the seats around 24 inches. Standard 18-inch dining chairs will sit too low, so use the four chairs that come with the set.
Will it fit a small dining area?
Yes, that is the point of the design. Measure your space against the table footprint plus about 24 inches of pull-out room per side before buying, since the chairs need clearance to slide back.
What is in the box?
One table with drawers and four upholstered chairs, plus the hardware and instructions for assembly. Tools are usually not included.
Is it worth it compared with a solid-wood set?
If you need drawers and a compact footprint on a budget, yes. If you want furniture to pass down or expect heavy daily use, a solid-wood set costs more but holds up better.
When is it cheapest?
Sets like this tend to drop during back-to-school and Black Friday sales and around moving season in late spring. Check the price history before buying.
