Does it fit under pants?

Yes. It is a slim strap, not a sleeve, so it sits below the kneecap and usually fits under loose pants.

How tight should I wear it?

Snug enough to feel firm pressure on the tendon without cutting off circulation. Adjust the strap until the pain eases, not until it hurts.

Is it the same as a knee sleeve?

No. A sleeve covers the whole knee; this strap presses only on the patellar tendon, which suits runner's knee rather than general knee support.

Can I wear it on either knee?

Yes. The strap is not left- or right-specific, so it works on either leg.

Is it machine washable?

Hand wash in mild soap and air dry. Heat and machine drying can damage the gel pad and the strap's elasticity.

At $12.97 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026, it is already inexpensive. Watch for pharmacy and big-box sales, since only one new price is listed.

Our take on the ACE Brand Adjustable Knee Strap

The ACE Brand Adjustable Knee Strap is a one-size, black strap that wraps below the kneecap and presses a reinforced gel pad against the patellar tendon. It is aimed at runner's knee and similar tendon irritation, and the hook-and-loop closure lets you set how much pressure you want. At $12.97 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Pros

Reinforced gel pad targets the tendon below the kneecap
Adjustable hook-and-loop strap sets your own pressure
One size fits most, so no sizing guesswork
Low profile enough to wear under pants or while running
Simple to put on and take off

Cons

One size may not fit very large or very small legs well
Strap can slip or loosen during long runs if not snug
Gel pad placement takes trial and error to get right
Not a substitute for a hinged brace if you need knee stability
