Is the Acer Swift 3 with Ryzen 5 4500U good for everyday use?

Yes. Six cores, 8 GB of RAM and an SSD cover browsing, office apps and video calls well. It is not built for gaming or heavy video editing.

Can I upgrade the RAM or storage?

The 8 GB of LPDDR4 memory is soldered, so RAM cannot be upgraded. The 256 GB SSD can be swapped for a larger drive if you are comfortable opening the laptop.

Does it run Windows 11?

It ships with Windows 10 Home and has no TPM 2.0 listed, which can block a standard Windows 11 upgrade. Check the exact model's firmware support before buying if Windows 11 matters.

Is the screen good enough for photo work?

The 14-inch 1920x1080 IPS panel gives wide viewing angles and sharp text. It is fine for casual photo editing, but it is not a color-calibrated display for professional work.

What ports does it have?

It includes HDMI and a 1/8-inch headphone jack, with no optical drive. Plan on USB-C or USB-A adapters for other connections.

When is the best time to buy it?

This is an older Ryzen 4500U model, so it is most attractive on a discount. The best new price was $795.00 at Newegg as of November 7, 2026, and only one store listed it new.

Our take on the Acer Swift 3 Thin & Light

The Acer Swift 3 Thin & Light is a 14-inch silver laptop built around an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U, a six-core chip, with 8 GB of LPDDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD. Its 1920x1080 IPS screen, 12.7-inch width and lack of a dedicated graphics card make it a portable everyday machine for school, office work and light photo editing. The best new price is $795.00 at Newegg as of November 7, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.
