Our take on the AlinoX Size 300 Low Profile Baitcasting Reel

The AlinoX Size 300 is a low-profile baitcasting reel built for inshore saltwater and freshwater, with an aluminum body, hardened brass gears and stainless steel internals. It holds 205 yards of 40 lb braid and puts out a claimed 33 lbs of max drag, which is heavy for a 300-size reel. The 5.9:1 gear ratio and left-hand retrieve suit slow cranking for big fish rather than fast lure work. It is rated 4.7 out of 5 from 307 ratings, but no current price was given, so check the live comparison before buying.

Pros
  • 33 lbs max drag is strong for a 300-size low-profile reel
  • Aluminum body and side plates resist flex under load
  • Hardened brass gears and stainless steel parts hold up in salt
  • 205 yards of 40 lb braid capacity covers most inshore runs
  • 8 bearings and a double handle for smooth, even cranking
Cons
  • 5.9:1 ratio is slow for fast retrieves and topwater
  • Left-hand retrieve only; no right-hand option listed
  • No line-capacity spec for mono, only braid
  • At 300 size it is heavier and bulkier than a 150 or 200 reel
  • Saltwater use still needs rinsing after every trip

Questions and answers

Is the AlinoX Size 300 worth it?
It is a reasonable pick if you want a 300-size low-profile reel with high drag for inshore saltwater. Compare its live price against Shimano and Daiwa 300-size reels before deciding.
Is 33 lbs of drag realistic on this reel?
That is the rated maximum, and most anglers will fish well below it to protect line and rod. Set drag to about a third of your line's breaking strength.
What line should I put on it?
The listed capacity is 205 yards of 40 lb braid. Use 30 to 50 lb braid for inshore work, and add a mono or fluorocarbon leader.
Is it good for saltwater?
Yes, it is rated for inshore saltwater with stainless steel and aluminum parts. Rinse it with fresh water after each trip and oil the bearings regularly.
Does it come in right-hand retrieve?
Only left-hand retrieve is listed for this model. Right-hand users should look at other reels.
When is it cheapest?
Baitcasting reels usually drop during spring sales and holiday events. Check the price history on this page to see whether the current price is near its low.
