Our take on the AllModern Kamal Bookcase

The AllModern Kamal is a 72-inch-tall ladder-style bookcase in a brown finish, with an A-frame silhouette, open shelving and a drawer. It is freestanding but ships with a wall anchor, which matters on a tall, narrow unit like this. At $185 at Wayfair as of November 5, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare it against.

Pros
  • Tall 72-inch frame gives five-plus tiers of open display
  • A-frame ladder look suits mid-century rooms
  • Includes a wall anchor for tip-over safety
  • Drawer adds closed storage the open shelves lack
  • Narrow 24.75-inch width fits tight walls
Cons
  • Open back shows the wall and any cords behind it
  • Tall and narrow, so it needs anchoring for safety
  • Only one new price listed, so no discount to judge
  • No casters; it stays where you place it

Questions and answers

Is the Kamal bookcase stable without the wall anchor?

What are the dimensions?

Does it have a drawer?
Yes, one drawer is included alongside the open shelves. The rest of the storage is open shelving with no back panel.
What style is it?
A ladder-style, A-frame bookcase aimed at mid-century and adult rooms. It suits books and display pieces rather than heavy storage.
