The Fire HD 8 is Amazon's 8-inch budget tablet, built for reading, streaming and light browsing inside Amazon's ecosystem. This 2020 model has a 1280 x 800 screen, a hexa-core MediaTek MT8168 chip, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage with a microSD slot, USB-C charging and a 4850 mAh battery rated around 12 hours. It is not a full Android tablet: Fire OS means no Google Play, so apps come from Amazon's Appstore. At $49.99 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range and is one of the cheapest ways to get a working tablet.

Owners rate it 4.7 out of 5 from 220 ratings, and the pattern is consistent: people like it as a cheap consumption device for Amazon content and accept its limits. Complaints center on the ad-supported lockscreen, the app gap and sluggishness under load.
