Our take on the Amishwerks 36" Sink Base Cabinet

The Amishwerks 36-inch sink base is a two-door base cabinet built from solid hickory and left unfinished, so you stain or paint it to match your kitchen. It has a 36-inch-wide opening for a sink, two hinged doors, and false drawer fronts across the top. The rustic hickory grain means no two units look alike. At $427.11 at CK Cabinetry as of November 3, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with only two stores pricing it new.

Pros
  • Solid hickory doors and frame
  • Unfinished surface takes stain or paint to match
  • 36-inch width fits standard sink bases
  • Rustic grain gives a one-of-a-kind look
  • Two hinged doors open the full sink bay
Cons
  • Assembly required
  • Unfinished wood needs sealing before it sees moisture
  • False drawer fronts are decorative, not storage
  • Hickory grain varies, so matching other cabinets takes care
  • Only two stores list it new, so price shopping is limited

Questions and answers

Is this cabinet worth it compared with a finished sink base?
If you want solid hickory and plan to finish it yourself, $427.11 at CK Cabinetry as of November 3, 2026 is a fair price for a 36-inch solid-wood base. A prefinished cabinet saves labor but usually costs more and is rarely solid hickory.
What do I need to finish it?
Sand lightly, then apply stain or paint and a moisture-resistant topcoat, especially around the sink. Unfinished hickory absorbs finish unevenly, so test on a door back first.
Does it come assembled?
No. Assembly is required, so plan for time and basic tools. Check that the box includes hinges and hardware before you start.
Will a standard 36-inch sink fit?
The cabinet is 36 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 34.5 inches high, sized for a standard sink base. Confirm your sink's cutout dimensions against the cabinet's interior before ordering.
Can I use the top drawers for storage?
No. The drawer fronts are false and fixed to the face frame. All storage is behind the two doors in the sink bay.
When is it cheapest?
Only two stores price it new, so compare both before buying. The $427.11 at CK Cabinetry as of November 3, 2026 is the current best price.
Where is the Amishwerks 36" Sink Base Cabinet cheapest?
