Our take on the Antarctic Star 7.0 Cu.ft Deep Freezer Chest Freezer with 3 Baskets

The Antarctic Star 7.0 cu. ft. chest freezer is a compact, stainless-steel-finish chest freezer with three hanging baskets for organizing smaller items above the main bin. It holds roughly 245 liters, enough for a half or whole beef, a large garden harvest, or a family's frozen stockpile. At 38 in tall, 33 in wide and 22 in deep, it fits in a garage, basement or utility room without a dedicated appliance nook. No current price was supplied, so check the latest best price against its recent range before buying.

Best forFamilies buying meat in bulk or a quarter/half cowGardeners freezing a large harvestGarage, basement or mudroom overflow storageHouseholds that lose power and want a chest that holds cold longer
Pros
  • 7 cu. ft. is a practical size for a household stockpile without dominating a room
  • Three baskets keep small items reachable instead of buried at the bottom
  • Chest design holds cold well during short power outages
  • Stainless steel finish looks cleaner than plain white in a visible space
  • Compact footprint at 33 in wide fits through most doorways
Cons
  • No shelves, so the main bin is one deep well you have to dig through
  • Manual defrost: ice builds up and needs periodic emptying and scraping
  • Chest lid means bending and reaching; hard for anyone with back or knee issues
  • No digital temperature display or app control at this tier
  • Interior light and lock are not listed, so verify before relying on them

Questions and answers

Is 7 cu. ft. big enough for a family?
It suits a couple or a family of four buying meat in bulk, plus some frozen produce. A quarter or half cow plus a garden harvest will roughly fill it. Very large households or heavy bulk buyers should look at 10 cu. ft. or more.
Does it need to be defrosted manually?
Yes. It is a manual-defrost chest freezer, so frost builds on the walls over months. Plan to empty it, unplug it and let it thaw once or twice a year, more often in humid spaces.
Can it go in a garage or unheated space?
Many owners run chest freezers in garages, but check the label for the rated ambient temperature range. In very cold or very hot spaces, cooling performance and efficiency can drop.
What comes in the box?
The freezer and three hanging baskets are the core contents. A power cord and basic manual are included; a lock, interior light or extra dividers are not listed, so confirm with the seller if you need them.
How does it compare with an upright freezer?
An upright is easier to organize and reach into, but a chest freezer like this one is cheaper to run and holds cold longer in an outage. Choose the chest if efficiency and outage resilience matter more than easy access.
When is it cheapest?
Chest freezers tend to dip during late-summer clearance and Black Friday sales, and prices rise before holiday bulk-buying season. Check the price history and set an alert rather than buying on impulse.
