Our take on the Apple iPad 128GB Wi-Fi

The Apple iPad 128GB Wi-Fi is the 9.7-inch model with the A10 Fusion chip, a 2048 x 1536 Retina display and support for the first-generation Apple Pencil. It is a refurbished unit sold by TekReplay, Wi-Fi only, with Touch ID and an 8 MP rear camera. The listing shows 4G in its connectivity field, but the product itself is Wi-Fi only, so check before buying if you need cellular. No price was given for this listing, so its standing against recent prices cannot be stated.

Questions and answers

Is this iPad worth it over a new base iPad?
At a clearly lower price, yes for reading, streaming and notes. A new base iPad gives you a faster chip, more RAM, USB-C and a longer software life, so pay the difference if you need those.
Does it work with the Apple Pencil?
Yes, with the first-generation Apple Pencil, which charges by plugging into the Lightning port. The second-generation Pencil and USB-C Pencil do not work with this model.
Is it Wi-Fi only or does it have 4G?
It is Wi-Fi only. The connectivity field lists 4G, but the product description and the model itself are Wi-Fi only, so do not count on cellular.
How is the battery?
Apple rates it at about 10 hours of web browsing or video. On a refurbished unit, expect less if the battery was not replaced; ask the seller about battery health.
What is in the box?
The iPad, an aftermarket wall charger and a USB cable. No Apple Pencil and no Apple-branded charger are included.
When is the price lowest?
Refurbished iPad prices tend to dip around back-to-school and Black Friday. No price was listed here, so compare against other refurbished sellers before buying.
