Is the Mac mini M6 worth it at $779?

At $779.00 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it is the cheapest way into a current M6 Mac desktop. It is worth it if you already own a monitor and peripherals and your work fits in 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage.

Is 256GB enough storage?

It is fine for documents, browsing and coding, but large photo libraries, video projects and local AI models will fill it quickly. Plan on external Thunderbolt storage if you keep big files.

Can I upgrade the memory or storage later?

No. The 16GB of unified memory is soldered to the chip, and the SSD is not user-replaceable. Choose the configuration you need at purchase.

How many monitors can it drive?

Up to three external displays, using the three Thunderbolt 4 ports and the HDMI port. That makes it a good fit for multi-monitor desks.

What comes in the box?

The Mac mini itself and a power cord. You supply the monitor, keyboard and mouse, which keeps the price low but adds cost if you are starting from nothing.

Mac minis tend to dip during Black Friday, back-to-school and Apple's occasional retailer promotions. The current $779.00 at Amazon is already near the low end of its recent range.
