Is the 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro still worth buying?

Yes if you need an Intel Mac for Boot Camp or specific software and find it well below Apple Silicon prices. Otherwise a MacBook Pro with M-series chips is faster and runs cooler.

How does it compare with the 15-inch model it replaced?

It has a larger 16-inch screen in a similar body, the more reliable Magic Keyboard, better speakers and a bigger battery. It is the better machine of the two.

How is the battery life?

Apple rates it at up to 11 hours of web browsing. Heavy editing or sustained i9 loads cut that to a few hours, and fans run often.

The laptop and a 96W USB-C power adapter with a USB-C cable. It has no USB-A or SD card ports, so plan on adapters or a hub.

Yes. Boot Camp lets you install Windows 10 on Intel Macs, which Apple Silicon models cannot do natively.

Prices on this generation fall as refurbished and used stock grows, and they dip around major sales events. Compare listings across stores before buying.

Our take on the Apple MacBook Pro 16" 2.3GHz i9 Touch Bar 1TB

The 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro is Apple's return to a larger pro laptop, with a 16-inch Retina display, the scissor-switch Magic Keyboard that replaced the troubled butterfly keys, and a 2.3GHz 9th-gen Intel Core i9 with 1TB of storage. It has six speakers, a Touch Bar, and four Thunderbolt 3 ports. It is the last Intel 16-inch model before the Apple Silicon redesign, so it is a used or clearance buy now.
