Is the RTX 5090 worth it over an RTX 5080 model?

For 2560x1600 gaming at high settings the RTX 5090 gives the biggest headroom, especially with ray tracing. If you mostly play esports titles, a cheaper 5080 configuration saves money with little loss.

Can it run large local AI models?

Yes. 96 GB of DDR5 system memory lets you load large models that won't fit in the 24 GB of RTX 5090 video memory, though they run slower on the CPU and system RAM.

How heavy is it to carry?

16-inch ROG Strix laptops with this class of GPU and cooling typically weigh around 5 to 6 pounds plus a large power brick. It works as a portable desktop but is heavy for daily commuting.

Does the 4 TB SSD leave room for upgrades?

4 TB covers most game and project libraries outright. ROG Strix 16 models usually have a second M.2 slot, so you can add storage later.
