Is 64 GB of RAM and a 4 TB SSD worth it?

Only if you edit large video files, run virtual machines or keep huge game libraries. For most gamers, a 16 GB or 32 GB model with a 1 TB SSD costs much less and performs the same in games.

Can I upgrade the RAM and storage myself?

The TUF A16 has accessible memory slots and an M.2 SSD slot, so upgrades are possible. Check the exact model's service manual, since slot count and maximum capacity vary by configuration.

How does it compare with the previous TUF A16?

The Ryzen 9 8940HX is a newer, faster chip than earlier Ryzen 7 options, and this build adds much more RAM and storage. The chassis, screen and cooling design carry over.

Is the 165Hz screen good for gaming?

Yes. 165Hz makes fast shooters feel smooth, and 1920x1200 is easy to drive with the dedicated GPU. Text and photo work will look less sharp than on a higher-resolution panel.

What comes in the box?

The laptop, a power adapter and the usual paperwork. A mouse and headset are not included.

Gaming laptops usually drop during Black Friday, back-to-school and end-of-quarter sales. With only one new listing at $3,419 as of November 7, 2026, watch for seasonal discounts.

Our take on the ASUS TUF A16 16" 64 GB 4 TB PCIe SSD

The ASUS TUF A16 is a 16-inch gaming laptop built around an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX and a dedicated GPU, with a 1920x1200 165Hz display. This configuration pairs 64 GB of DDR5 memory with a 4 TB PCIe SSD, far more storage and RAM than the usual retail build. It is a desktop-replacement machine aimed at heavy multitaskers and gamers rather than commuters. The best new price is $3,419 at Newegg as of November 7, 2026, the only new listing found, so there is no recent price range to compare against.
